Chapter 8 set out the requirements for temporary signing and management of traffic on the highway. All companies whether they are undertaking construction, maintenance or utility work are required to use this document to set out and maintain their traffic management

The Highways Agency has worked closely with the Department for Transport, the Health and Safety Executive, CSS, the AA, the RAC and members of the road traffic industry in revising Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual.
