GEOFF ALLISTER – BSc CEng FICE FIHT
Geoff works in Northern Ireland where he is the Acting Chief Executive with the Department for Regional Development’s Roads Service.
His primary role is to lead, manage and motivate the Agency at a strategic level to meet its policy objectives and its financial and operational targets. Roads Service is currently responsible for the management, maintenance and development of 25,000 km of public roads in Northern Ireland and has approximately 2,400 staff with a budget in 2007/08 of approximately £300m.
Geoff has over 30 years experience of the delivery of highway services and has been a Director of the Agency since 2001. Recently he has had responsibility for the delivery of the Roads Service Strategic Roads Improvement Programme which envisages an investment of £1.4bm in the strategic roads network in the period up to 2015. Other recent work included the development of a revised construction procurement strategy, major efficiency reviews of the Agency’s internal provider organisations and the introduction of decriminalised parking enforcement across Northern Ireland.
Geoff is a former President of CSS, the County Surveyors’ Society and for a number of years chaired the CSS Engineering Committee. He is a past Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Institution of Highways and Transportation and is the NI representative on IHT Council.
He is a member of the Education Board having previously been a member of both the Procurement and Member Services Boards.
