Career in the industry started in 1973 with Wm. Tawse ltd in Inverness as a trainee engineer.
I remained with the same company until 1997, through all the mergers and take-overs ,reaching the level of General Manager for the Highlands.
After all these years, I decided it was time for a change, so I resigned from Bardon and for the next 18 months I hired out my expertise{ so called} to various companies in Scotland, England and Cyprus.
In 1999 I joined Macdonald Surfacing, a small Inverness based company with an annual turnover of 800k.
I became a director in 2000 and the company changed its name in 2002 to Highland Quality Construction and is now one of the leading civils companies in the Highlands, with an annual turnover of 16mill.
