The Member Services Board exists to support the fulfilment of the Institution’s strategic objectives, in particular the objective: ‘To provide services that meet the needs of members’.

This includes; monitoring of members’ needs and satisfaction; monitoring and strategy development for the recruitment of new members and retention of current members; ensuring effective development and marketing of IHT’s range of services to members. The Member Services Board monitors the work of the Transportation Professional Panel and the Branch Officers' Conference Panel.

Primary Objectives

i. Consolidate the use of the corporate identity and ensure that the Institution promotes a professional image to its members and other stakeholders.

ii. Monitor the effectiveness of the website as means of effective communication with both the profession as a whole and the membership in line with editorial policy.

iii. Promote the profession of highways and transportation in schools and universities.

iv. Pursue activities to increase our membership and encourage Branches to recruit members actively in their areas.

v. Promote the value of membership and professional qualifications to corporate partners, employers and academic bodies and work with them to influence professional standards.

vi. Monitor members’ perception of the Institution and ascertain how best to be of assistance to them.

vii. Bring together branch officials to share experiences and contribute to the development of IHT at a branch conference.

viii. Keep the Branch Handbook up to date.

ix. Monitor the work of MSB Panels according to their Terms of Reference.

x. Receive recommendations from MSB Panels and take responsibility for any consequent decisions which need to be made.

xi. Develop a range of new member services, and ensure effective marketing of such services.

Member Services Board News
The Member Services Board will next meet on Thursday 11th September 2008. Items on the agenda are the 2008 Branch Officers' Conference, Locan Cup, Proposed Branch in the UAE and IHT Corporate Literature.
