Overview

The CIHT South West celebrate the very best the region offers across the key areas of highways and transportation. They are open to everyone: members and non-members; small and large organisations; public, private and third sector. The Awards recognise the outstanding contribution that good projects and people make to our daily lives.

Chair's charity: Coexist Community Kitchen

The Coexist Community Kitchen is an inclusive, non-profit cooking school and social space located in the heart of Easton in Bristol. They are passionate about using food as a catalyst for change, and for over a decade have been providing a welcoming space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together, learn new skills, and rebuild their lives. We believe that food has the power to transform not only individuals, but entire communities.

Through practical workshops and cooking courses, they empower participants to develop their culinary skills and foster a sense of dignity and belonging. They encourage them to share their skills with others, which creates a space where everyone feels seen, valued and at home. They go beyond cooking to incorporate additional support as needed, such as language lessons and guidance on nutrition, budgeting, and work opportunities. In addition to the workshops, they run a weekly Community Meals service providing around 150 nutritious meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity.
