The National Technical University of Athens, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Transportation Research Board would like to invite you to the 10th Conference on Application of Advanced Technologies in Transportation, which will take place in Athens, Greece , in May, 27th-31st, 2008.
The main objectives of the 10th AATT are to discuss and showcase advanced technologies, innovative equipment, expert skills and new materials applied to transportation modes and systems. Academics, researchers and professionals interested in the field of transportation are invited to attend the conference to learn about innovative solutions and the application of new methods, theories and technologies in the areas of transportation infrastructure, planning and operations.

Aston University’s 2008 Annual Road Safety Audit conference will be an international event, with the theme of uniting
practitioners from all over the world, to share information on this high profile and effective casualty prevention
discipline. By sharing knowledge about safer roads design and about the ways in which we are evolving the Road
Safety Audit process worldwide, we shall be able to strengthen and enhance the benefits to be gained from Road
Safety Audit. This event will be of particular benefit to those developing Road Safety Audit policy as well as
practitioners. Issues covered will include new standards, auditor qualifications, registration systems and liabilities.

The 2005 Roundabouts Conference produced highly useful design,
construction, operations and safety information (including ADA ) and best
practices, as well as the latest research and discussion of issues. The
2008 conference will build on that base with the additional experience
of many more agencies using roundabouts, more years of experience with
roundabouts, and recently completed research.

ANNOUNCEMENT and CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The purpose of the Urban Street Symposium is to stimulate improvements in suburban/urban street design practices. It will provide a forum to:
- compare and debate alternative street design practices
- document better street designs
- transfer urban street research findings to state agencies and to local government
It will focus on the latest research, policies, and practices for street geometric design, including safety and operational effects. The previous Symposia proved that practitioners, policy makers, and researchers face similar issues and learn much by sharing their challenges and successes with concerned colleagues.

Call for Papers – 29th October 2008
The Future of Transportation in Ireland
The Institution of Highways & Transportation is pleased to announce the 2008 conference of the Republic of Ireland Branch, to be held in Cork with a target of the 29th October. The topic of this year’s conference will be "The Future of Transportation in Ireland" .
The Conference is a one-day event for all practitioners involved in planning, design, procurement and construction of transport infrastructure. It will examine the latest developments in technologies, design techniques, innovative equipment, expert skills, new materials analysis, and present a number of papers on the future direction of transportation infrastructure and policy.
The event is aimed at providing a forum for dissemination of technical advances as well as exchanges of experiences and ideas among engineers, planners, academics, researchers, developers, regulatory agents and project managers.
As with any such event, support from our members is crucial. If you have a paper that you would like to present of any issue you feel would enhance this event, we would be delighted to hear from you. All topics would be allocated 30 minutes, and should follow the basic theme of the event.
If you feel you can add to this event, please contact Alex Robertson with an outline of the topic that you propose to cover. All such submissions should be received prior to 31st August 2008. Please note that full presentations will not be required until 30th September 2006.
